Southwest Florida is considered to be
the nicest part of the state of Florida. Sample "Real Florida";
see Florida Wildlife in its natural habitat.
Retire minutes from Boca Grande, the preferred warm weather retreat
of former President Bush. Sit by your pool and watch the best sunsets
in the country! Buy a piece of this natural treasure while it is
still affordable.
Southwest Florida is beginning its boom.
The weather is consistently pleasant, and there are many things
to do. Golfers can golf a different course
everyday for weeks. Anglers have their choice
of methods and quarry. Catch King Mackerel or Cobia just off shore;
jig for Grouper at any of the dozen or so wrecks and reefs around
the area. Drift for Tarpon through the world famous Boca Grande
Pass which is just minutes away.
Rotonda's
weather is tempered by the Gulf of Mexico.
The days are typically warm with a light southwest breeze off the
Gulf. The "rainy season", from June to October, consists of a one-hour
shower every day at about four o'clock, usually just enough to cool
things down a bit for dinner. The Gulf side of Florida gets fewer
hurricanes because the Florida peninsula protects it from the volatile
Atlantic weather. Even Hurricane Andrew, which devastated the east
coast, was pretty much blown out by the time he got to this side.
Golfers, Fisherman, and Beach Goers all have
the perfect paradise in Southwest Florida. With the pleasant Florida
weather, people often want to be outside enjoying their respective
activities. Golf
is a very popular sport in the region. There are more than 20 golf
courses within an easy drive from Rotonda. There are four courses
in the circle itself, and another one is planned.
Beaches
on Florida's Gulf Coast are some of the best in the world. Venice
beach, which is only about 20 minutes away, is the self professed
"Shark Tooth Capitol of the World", while many residents insist
that the local Manasota Key is actually a better place to hunt for
them. The fossilized dentition of Paleolithic era sharks still washes
up on the shores every day; some of these belonged to sharks as
long as sixty feet!
The South Beach of Boca Grande doesn't vie for this title, it doesn't
need it. The sand is white and fine. The water is as warm as bathwater
from April until November. Just be sure to wear your sun block because
you will want to spend a lot of time out there!
Shopping in Southwest Florida has a lot to
brag about. St. Armand's Circle has some of the finest shopping
available in the state. Located on Lido Key, just off shore from
Sarasota and about a 25 minute drive from Rotonda; St. Armand's
circle boasts over 150 places to shop or eat in a rich tropical
setting. Boca Grande, about 15 minutes away in the opposite direction,
is filled with quaint boutiques and upscale galleries.
